1831 - Will (Lonan)

In the name of God Amen I John Clague of the Parish of Lonan being weak in body but of a sound disposing mind humour and judgement at the making hereof and calling to mind the uncertainty of life I do dispose of my worldly goods & effects as follows.

I commend my sould to god and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner.

2ndly, I leave and bequeath unto my nephew Thomas Mylrea a ______ of land called the How(?). This land being the parcel I purchased off my brother William Clague and bounded in the south west by the property of Wm. Clague. By the rent(?) of Mr. Tate(?) Esq., on the north west by the rent(?) of Isabella Kinnish in the north and east.

Lastly, I nominate and ordain my sister Isabella Kinnish otherwise Clague, Executrix of all my Goods Chattels and Effects moveable or immoveable of whatever kind or Denomination Soeven(?). And Isabella Kinnish my aforementioned Executor is to pay sixpence legacy to every or any person that may claim a right to this my Last Will and Testament. And this I do declare in presence of Witnesses to be my Last Will and Testament revoking all others and hereunto I set my mark the Twenty Fourth day of June Eighteen Hundred and Thirty One ----June 24th 1831.

At a Chattel Court Holden at Douglas 18th ct 1831 The Executrix is sworn in Court in form(?) of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of Debts and Legacies namely John Killey and William Mylechreest both of the Parish of Lonan. Know all Men by these presents, that We, John Killey in the Parish of Lonan and Wm. Mylechreest of(sic) in the Parish of Lonan are held and firmly bound to William Lord Bishop of Sodor and Mann, and his Successors, in the Sum of One hundred pounds British; to the Payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind Ourselves, our Heirs, Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, jointly and severally, by these presents, to the said LORD BISHOP and his Successors. Witness our Subscriptions, this 18 day of Oct 1831 Whereas the ECCLESIASTICAL COURT of this Island hath this Day granted Probate of this Will of John Clague deceased, to Isabella Kinnish and NOW THE CONDITION of the above Obligation is such, that if the said Isabella Kinnish shall well and truly administer the Estate and Effects of the said Descadant and shall in all Things relating thereto conform to the Laws of this Isle, the Orders of the Ecclesiastical Courts thereof, and the Oath she hath this day taken, then the foregoing Obligation to be void, otherway to be and remain in full force and virtue in Law.
